Deb and I are painting our house. A one hundred and twenty five year old home has it’s challenges but we are enjoying putting our personal impression on the walls and a million feet of trim. Deb takes care of the trim and often has to paint parts again after I get wall paint on doorway frames and window sidings. She is far more patient than me. Good thing! I wanted to do something a little bold so I painted the inside front door with a deep dark RED Merlot. Great! Looked so good so with paint brush in hand I looked to see what’s next. Part of the crown moulding around the ceiling by the front door has a half inch flat spot, so I went for it. It was a total pain and I have to touch it up, but we liked it. How about the rings around the light fixture? Yes, now deep red. I guess you could say I was on a red hot roll. "Deb, what about that thing in the kitchen?”, I asked. "Go for it" was her reply without a hint of apprehension. Told you, quite a woman! That thing in the kitchen was the boxed-in beam that ran for fifteen feet between the kitchen and dining room. I’m in it big time now. Somewhere in the process, God and I got talking. Bless those who talk to Him all the time. I’m still working on that. I said “This is kind of like the time Moses told the children of Israel to take a slaughtered lamb, dip some hyssop branches in the blood and wipe it on the doorways of their homes. When the angel of death, seeing the blood, would pass by them and not take their first born as he would with the Egyptians. God honoured the Hebrews as they fulfilled this strange and prophetic task. What does dark red paint look like?” Yes, it looks like blood, pretty blood My brushes now took the form of hyssop! Now I’m after the whole house. The dogs are OK only because they have naturally red fur. I felt the voice of God say “It’s the Jewish Passover now.” Wow! I love it when He sets things up. I decided to paint my house with a deep red paint, praying for Him to act on our behalf by protecting us from evil and He reminds me it's Passover time. My painting brought me into a surge of emotion and non verbal communication.
The times ahead are going to be very evil and deceptive. If it were possible even the elect of God will be deceived. Our only refuge is in what many will call foolish, the BLOOD OF JESUS. Our personal relationship with Jesus has the ongoing continual WASHING of His BLOOD, cleansing us from our sin and unrighteousness. Those who pull back will be overcome by the pride and lusts of the unwashed, unprotected inner man. Let's let our imagination run free in God for a moment. Pretend a branch of Hyssop is in your hand, now dip it into the Blood at the base of the Cross. The Bible says that we are the temple of the Holy Spirit so see your inner being as a house or a temple. Now sprinkle the Blood over your mind, heart and body. The mind for your thoughts, heart for your emotions and the body for your health. Now command the enemy to recognize the Blood of Jesus and 'pass over' yourselves and loved ones as well as your leadership and brothers and sisters. Say this “Not by my power or my might but by the Spirit of God and the Blood of Jesus, I command you to pass over me and all of the people I love in Jesus name. I command you to recognize the Blood!” I will believe with you as you with me and we shall see the GOODNESS OF GOD IN THIS LAND WE LIVE IN.
